Legal Officer – Election Commission Vacancies

Applications are invited for the post of Legal Officer of the Election Commission on contract basis for a period of one year. Applicants:
•Should be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
•Should be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of the position Should have an excellent character, and
•Should not be less than 21 years and not more than 45 years of age. Educational and professional qualifications
1.Should have sworn in as an Attorney-at-Law in the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka. Experience: Should have obtained a practical professional experience not less than three (03) years subsequent to swearing in as an Attorney-at-Law in the Supreme Court.
OR Should have obtained experience relating to following functions not less than 03 years in the field of Law in a public institution subsequent to swearing in as an Attorney-at-Law in the Supreme Court.
a)Appearing in court for litigation and taking legal action in this regard.
b)Coordinating with the Attorney General’s Department.
c)Legal matters relating to contracts
d)Legal matters relating to relevant ordinances and Acts)Compilation of legal documents such as drafts of Acts, Circulars, Regulations
f)Legal proceedings or investigations conducted by various statutory bodies The monthly salary scale applicable to this post is Rs. 47,615/ – 10×1335/ – 8×1630/ – 17×2170/ – 110,895/ and is entitled to other allowances paid by the Election Commission. Further, establishment of an appropriate salary step can be considered by negotiating according to qualifications and experience. Contract Period – 01 year. Extending the contract period on the need of service may be considered with the concurrence of the Election Commission.
